TIFFINS a La Carte Indian Restaurant first opened in December ‘96 from a very modest dwelling along Southend seafront, providing unique fine dining in simple but elegant surroundings.
Today Tiffins is located in much grander surrounding (it has moved to a listed building nearly three hundred years old) and is able to seat over 150 guests. The décor is stunning from the black leather chairs, to the bold red walls and the crystal chandeliers. There is also an atmospheric and stylish lounge bar where guests can relax and unwind with friends and family whilst enjoying a glass of wine or freshly ground coffee.
The cuisine is Authentic Indian as apposed to Bangladeshi, where the authenticity is provided by its specialist Indian chefs from Deli, Goa and the Punjab. The chefs collectively bring a wealth of experience between them and have all come from excellent backgrounds. Head chef, Mr. Nitin BADONI, has been trained under the patronage of the Quillon Restaurant in Buckingham Palace Gate, London (sister restaurant to the famous Bombay Brasserie) that has provided takeaways to the Palace.
The menu is quite unique with many unusual dishes, ranging from the simple street foods found in India’s many cities, to the coastal flavors of Goa where seafood is the norm. Why not try the ‘Pani Puri’ - a typical Indian roadside snack or the more exotic ‘Goan Mussels’ - gently stir fried in fresh herbs and spices. There is also a good selection of interesting vegetarian dishes as well as all of the tried and tested dishes we all known and love.
The real success of Tiffins is found in its honest approach to cooking – where the ingredients are pure (with no colors or additives), the spices are freshly ground daily and only the very best quality meats and fish are used. Add to this the fact that very little oil is used in the cooking process means that Tiffins food is - a world away from the average restaurant offerings.
All this and more makes the TIFFINS experience like none other. |
